My name is Amanda Hovious. I am a librarian and instructional designer with a background in both academic and public libraries. I earned my MLIS from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and recently completed my master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology from the University of North Dakota. In the fall of 2016, I plan to start doctoral studies in Interdisciplinary Information Science at the University of North Texas.

The IDT degree has been key in opening up new perspectives and new directions for me in librarianship. New opportunities as well! I am no longer a librarian in practice, but a consultant and trainer of librarians and teachers, focusing on the integration and innovative use of technologies to support 21st century learning and literacies.

My central area of expertise is in game-based learning and transmedia storytelling, both of which are great digital learning tools for developing multi-literacies. I am also involved with the Inanimate Alice team, a wonderful transmedia storytelling project.
